How to increase RAM or random access memory speed

We say increasing RAM increases the speed of RAM but increasing the amount of ram does not increases ram speed. The RAM speed depends on how the OS manages the RAM, physical speed of RAM, clearing RAM process, trimming processes and lot more factors.

 

The most common way to increase the speed of RAM is to utilize full RAM. 32-bit or x86 operating system does not recognize full ram and there is loss of RAM speed. I recommend you to use a 64-bit operating system. If you cannot afford it or you don't want to, No problem!

If you want your RAM to be faster you need to know some factors about RAM. I am not so good in hardware but I know that frequency plays an important in the speed of RAM. More frequency you have more speed you get. As I said I am not so good at hardware things so you check can this for more info-10 quick points to check before buying RAM.

Add RAM to the computer in Windows

Basically if we want to increase RAM speed we need RAM. So in this step we are going to add RAM to increase speed of RAM. The easiest way to add RAM is to use Virtual Memory, I will be explaining how to do it. 

So here is the easiest way to add RAM to the computer-

1. Open Advance System settings. It is easily accessible, first right click on my computer icon then on the left side there will be this option, click on it.

2. New window will pop-up. Click on settings button under performance.

3. Another window will pop-up. Click on advanced it will be on top then click on change to open Virtual Memory management. See screenshot for assistance.

4. Virtual Memory management is up. Uncheck automatically manage paging file size.....option, select custom size radio button.

5. Now in Initial Size(MB) type the amount of RAM you have. You can check your RAM in system properties.  

6. In Maximum Size(MB) type the double of the amount written in Initial Size option above. See screen shot below if you didn't understand.

7. Click set, ok, ok whatever pops up, finally restart windows.

This was the easiest way to add RAM, now if you start using the computer after rebooting, you will find out that your ram speed is increased but this is temporary improvement. We are going to make it permanent. 

Increase RAM speed

Now you have added the RAM. Let us make it fast, to increase ram speed we need to change the windows system file and use some Microsoft script. I will show you the easiest way to do it. So here are two easiest method to increase ram speed. 

I. Changing Windows system file.

Note-For the following Hacks you need to be administrator of the computer.

1. Open CMD as administrator, by right clicking on cmd you can do it.

2. Type "system.ini" ... It is a code to open windows file through terminal, so we can edit it to increase ram speed.

3. A window will popup. Search for the following in it "[386Enh]" replace it with "[300000Enh]".

4. Now add the following lines just after the above code-

LoadLocalHigh=1
ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1

Your File should look like this-

System.ini

 

5. Save the file by pressing Ctrl+S. 

II. Using Microsoft script to increase RAM speed.

1. Open Notepad, everyone knows how to do it.
2. Type the following "FreeMem=Space(64000000)" .... Script for freeing some space.
3. Save the file as "cleanRAM.vbs" ... .vbs tells that it is microsoft script.
4. Now open the saved file as administrator. 

Now you have increased the speed of RAM by giving OS some privileges. By doing this HACK the windows will not limit the usage of the RAM. We have managed to increase the speed of RAM. Now we will try to keep it free and clean. 

Cleaning RAM for faster speeds 

We managed to increase ram speed. Now we have to keep it clean and free always. Cleaning RAM increases the RAM speed because at background many services are running simultaneously by clearing RAM we mean clearing the services that are running. We can achieve the following goal by using Memory Cleaner Software.

After downloading, install the soft. Now run the memory cleaner. After running it will ask for updates, skip it. It will show you real time usage of RAM.

Do the following steps for optimal settings to increase ram speed.

1. Click Trim Processes......... and Clear System Cache options.

2. Click on Options Tab, it will on the menu bar of Memory Cleaner at the top of course.

3.  Select two settings in middle. See screenshot below for assistance.

First setting kills the unwanted services every five minutes and the second clean cache. I recommend you to run this software in the background while you are working on the PC.
